Arsenal 3-0 Coventry City: Havertz, Saka and Ødegaard Lead Gunners to Winning Start

Arsenal began their Premier League title defence in impressive fashion on Friday, with Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard all finding the net in a comfortable 3-0 victory over newcomers Coventry City.

Havertz opened the scoring in the 15th minute, giving Arsenal an early advantage after the Gunners quickly established control of the contest.
Saka doubled Arsenal’s lead eight minutes later, finishing in the 23rd minute to put the defending champions firmly in command before half-time.

Arsenal continued to dominate after the break, with captain Ødegaard adding a third goal in the 49th minute to effectively settle the contest.

The result gave Arsenal an ideal start to their campaign as they look to defend their Premier League crown.

The Gunners controlled possession and created enough opportunities to secure a comfortable opening-day victory.

Coventry struggled to find a way back into the match after falling two goals behind in the first half.

Nigeria international Taiwo Awoniyi was introduced for Coventry in the 69th minute as the hosts looked for a response, while fellow Nigerian Frank Onyeka played the full match.

However, Coventry could not find a breakthrough as Arsenal maintained their defensive discipline to secure a clean sheet.

The victory will boost Arsenal’s confidence at the start of their title defence, while Coventry face an early challenge to adapt to life in the Premier League after their opening-day defeat.
