UEFA Women’s Champions League: Ajibade Leads Nigerian Stars as Matchday Two Delivers Big Results

Nigerian stars made their mark across Europe as the second matchday of the 2026/27 UEFA Women’s Champions League league phase produced a string of emphatic results, including a five-goal victory for Paris Saint-Germain and a six-goal demolition of AS Roma by holders Barcelona.

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade was among the standout Nigerian performers, scoring as Paris Saint-Germain cruised to a 5-0 victory over OH Leuven on Thursday.

At the Campus PSG, Ajibade opened the scoring in the ninth minute, finishing a move created by Naomie Feller as the French side took control early.

Feller then took centre stage after the break, scoring twice before Sakina Karchaoui and substitute Vitória Yaya completed the rout.

Nigeria international Jennifer Echegini also started for PSG and played 71 minutes before being replaced by Griedge Mbock. Ajibade was substituted at the same time as Yaya came on.

The victory lifted PSG to four points from their opening two league-phase matches, following their 1-1 draw away to Real Madrid on Matchday One.

Oladipo Own Goal in Barcelona Rout

In Rome, Shukurat Damilola Oladipo endured a difficult evening as AS Roma were swept aside 6-0 by defending champions Barcelona.

Oladipo started in central defence and played the full 90 minutes, but turned the ball into her own net in the 39th minute to give Barcelona a 2-0 lead.

Caroline Graham Hansen had opened the scoring in the 19th minute before Claudia Pina, Hansen again, Pina for a second and Ewa Pajor completed Barcelona’s emphatic victory.

Roma’s Nigerian forward Rinsola Babajide was an unused substitute.

The result leaves Barcelona as the only team with a perfect six points after two league-phase matches.
