WAFU B U-20: Tournament Top Scorer Adeleke Muiz Leads Flying Eagles Duo in Group Stage Best XI
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles duo Alfred Odinaka and Abdulmuiz Adeleke have earned places in the official WAFU B U-20 Group Stage Best XI.
Adeleke, the tournament’s leading goalscorer, was rewarded for his impressive performances in the group stage, while defender Alfred Odinaka also made the prestigious selection.
The official Best XI, released following the conclusion of the group stage, features players from six participating nations, with Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire dominating the selection.
Burkina Faso contributed three players — Donatien, Dabo and Zongo — while Côte d’Ivoire also had three representatives in goalkeeper Kouassi, midfielder Koné and forward Eloye.
Nigeria’s two representatives are Odinaka and Adeleke, with Ghana’s Nkrumah, Togo’s Gbande and Niger’s Youssouf completing the XI.

Adeleke’s inclusion further underlines his impact at the tournament, with the Nigerian forward emerging as the leading scorer after the group-stage matches.
The Flying Eagles advanced to the semi-finals after a strong group-stage campaign and will now shift their attention to the knockout phase as they continue their bid to retain the WAFU B U-20 title.
Odinaka’s selection also highlights Nigeria’s defensive strength, while Adeleke’s presence among the tournament’s standout attackers reflects his goalscoring influence.
