The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) has reportedly dismissed head coach following Tunisia’s humiliating 5-1 defeat to in their opening Group F match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Monterrey.
The crushing loss has made Lamouchi the first managerial casualty of the 2026 World Cup, with the FTF acting swiftly after Tunisia’s disastrous start to the tournament.
Lamouchi, who was appointed in January 2026, endured a difficult spell in charge of the Carthage Eagles.
In his brief five-game tenure, Tunisia recorded a 1-0 victory over Haiti, played out a goalless draw against Canada, but also suffered heavy defeats against Belgium and Sweden.
Reports from local and international media suggested that tensions had developed within the dressing room, with concerns over squad harmony and performances contributing to the federation’s emergency decision.
Tunisia now face a difficult task to revive their World Cup campaign after conceding five goals against Sweden and slipping to a negative goal difference in Group F.
Former Tunisia national team coach has reportedly been appointed on an interim basis to oversee the team for the remainder of the competition. Kebaier previously managed Tunisia during the 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign.
The Carthage Eagles will next face on June 20 before concluding their group-stage fixtures against on June 25.
