Nigeria vs Madagascar: Taiwo Awoniyi, 19 Others Arrive Super Eagles Camp in Uyo
Taiwo Awoniyi has returned to the Super Eagles fold for the first time since 2024 as Nigeria’s preparations for Friday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against Madagascar gathered momentum, with 20 players now in camp in Uyo.
Awoniyi is among the attacking options available to head coach Eric Chelle, alongside Moses Simon, Akor Adams, George Ilenikhena, Ademola Lookman and Tolu Arokodare as the Super Eagles begin their preparations for the Group C encounter.
The first batch of players in camp is expected to take part in Tuesday’s training session as Chelle begins to put his plans in place for the Madagascar challenge.
The midfield department features Alex Iwobi, Emmanuel Fernandez, Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka and Chibuike Nwaiwu, while the defensive group includes Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Benjamin Fredericks, Moses Usor, Ola Aina and Bright Osayi-Samuel.
Arthur Okonkwo and Isaac James are the two goalkeepers currently in camp.

The Super Eagles are still expecting the arrival of Wilfred Ndidi, Samuel Chukwueze and first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, who are expected to join the squad as preparations continue.

Nigeria will face Madagascar on Friday, September 25, in their latest 2027 AFCON qualifying fixture.
With 20 players already in Uyo and three more expected, the Super Eagles are set to intensify their training ahead of the crucial encounter as Chelle works to build the team for the qualifying campaign.
