NBA Finals: OG Anunoby’s Last-Second Heroics Complete Historic Knicks Comeback Against Spurs

OG Anunoby delivered one of the most iconic moments in New York Knicks history on Wednesday night, scoring the game-winning basket with 1.2 seconds remaining to complete a stunning 107-106 comeback victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals.

The dramatic finish capped a historic rally from 29 points down at Madison Square Garden and handed the Knicks a commanding 3-1 lead in the series.

With the game on the line, Anunoby reacted quickest to Jalen Brunson’s missed three-point attempt, tipping the ball into the basket to send the home crowd into wild celebrations and move New York within one win of its first NBA championship since 1973.

Anunoby finished with 33 points and played a crucial role on both ends of the court as the Knicks produced the largest comeback in NBA Finals history.

The Spurs appeared to be cruising toward victory after building a 27-point halftime advantage before extending the lead to 81-52 midway through the third quarter. San Antonio dominated early with efficient perimeter shooting and aggressive transition play.

However, the Knicks responded with relentless defensive intensity and a spirited offensive surge led by Brunson and Anunoby.

Brunson recorded a game-high 36 points, while Anunoby’s late-game heroics ultimately proved decisive in a contest that will be remembered for years to come.

Knicks head coach Mike Brown praised Anunoby’s determination and impact after the final buzzer.

“I told OG as big, as strong, as athletic as he is, he’s got to be a monster on the offensive glass tonight,” Brown said. “I don’t know if there was a play bigger than any other play in the history of Knicks basketball.”

The comeback surpassed the previous NBA Finals record of 24 points, set by the Boston Celtics against the Los Angeles Lakers in 2008. It also became the second-largest comeback in NBA playoff history.

New York completely changed the momentum after halftime, holding the Spurs to just 30 second-half points while outscoring them 58-30 across the final two quarters.

Victor Wembanyama led San Antonio with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Dylan Harper added 21 points. De’Aaron Fox and Devin Vassell each contributed 18 points in the defeat.

Despite the loss, the Spurs still had a late opportunity to seal the game after Stephon Castle converted two free throws with 30 seconds remaining to restore San Antonio’s lead. But the Knicks answered with one final possession, ending with Anunoby’s unforgettable winner.

Madison Square Garden erupted immediately after the basket, with fans celebrating one of the greatest playoff comebacks in franchise history.
Game 5 of the NBA Finals will take place on Saturday in San Antonio, where the Knicks will attempt to clinch the championship.
