NANPF Flags 10 Owing Clubs, Writes PSAC Ahead of 2026/27 Season
The National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers (NANPF) has written to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Players’ Status and Arbitration Committee (PSAC), urging strict enforcement of outstanding decisions involving 10 domestic clubs ahead of the 2026/27 football season.
In a letter dated August 22, 2026, and signed by NANPF General Secretary, Comrade Austin Popo, the players’ union called on PSAC and the various league organisers to prevent clubs that have failed to comply with relevant directives from fielding affected newly contracted players in competitive matches.
Kano Pillars, Shooting Stars (3SC) and Niger Tornadoes are among the clubs highlighted by the union, alongside Lobi Stars, Heartland FC, Bayelsa United, Sokoto United, Gombe United and Sunshine Stars.
The clubs listed by NANPF cut across the NPFL, NNL and NLO, underlining the union’s call for broader enforcement of player-related decisions across Nigeria’s domestic football structure.
NANPF maintained that clubs yet to fulfil their obligations under applicable PSAC decisions should not be permitted to use newly registered players until they have complied with the relevant directives.
The union also urged the NPFL, NNL, NWFL and NLO to take immediate steps to enforce FIFA and NFF regulations governing player status, contracts and transfers.
The development comes less than a week before the scheduled August 28 kick-off of the 2026/27 NPFL season, with the other domestic competitions expected to begin subsequently.
According to NANPF, consistent enforcement of player-status decisions is essential to protecting players’ rights, strengthening contractual discipline and preserving the integrity and credibility of Nigeria’s domestic leagues.
The letter was also copied to the NFF General Secretary and the leadership of the NPFL, NNL, NWFL and NLO.
The union’s intervention places renewed focus on the enforcement of PSAC decisions as Nigerian clubs prepare for another domestic football season.
