Kabiru Dogo Confirms Exit from El-Kanemi Warriors After 2026 President Federation Cup Triumph

El-Kanemi Warriors head coach Kabiru Dogo has confirmed that he will leave the Maiduguri-based club after leading them to victory in the 2026 President Federation Cup, with the experienced tactician set to begin a new chapter at Niger Tornadoes.

Dogo made the announcement while speaking to journalists after El-Kanemi edged Ikorodu City 1-0 in the final at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Saturday.

The victory secured El-Kanemi Warriors’ fourth President Federation Cup title and earned the club a place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Reflecting on the triumph, Dogo expressed gratitude to his players, the club management, and the competition organisers, describing the title as a deserved reward after years of hard work.
“I want to congratulate my team and everyone connected with this success. We were the better side today and I thank God for giving us this victory,” Dogo said.

The coach also recalled his disappointment in the 2016 Federation Cup final, where his team lost on penalties, noting that lifting the trophy this time was a dream fulfilled.

“If you remember, I was in the final in 2016 and lost on penalties. Today, God has rewarded me with this title. It is a special moment in my career,” he added.
Looking ahead to El-Kanemi Warriors’ participation in the CAF Confederation Cup,

Dogo expressed confidence that the club can compete strongly on the continental stage if it strengthens its squad.

“I believe El-Kanemi have a good team. With the right recruitment and proper planning, they can go far in the CAF Confederation Cup,” he said.

The veteran coach also confirmed that he will be taking charge of Nigeria Premier Football League side Niger Tornadoes, bringing an end to his successful spell with El-Kanemi Warriors.

Although he declined to discuss details of his new appointment, Dogo thanked the club’s supporters and everyone who contributed to his success in Maiduguri.

His departure marks the end of a memorable campaign in which he guided El-Kanemi Warriors to domestic cup glory and qualification for continental football.

Attention will now turn to who succeeds him as the club prepares for the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup campaign, while Dogo begins a fresh challenge with Niger Tornadoes.
