Flamingos Thrash Dream Stars 3-0 in Friendly as Preparations Intensify for Benin Republic Clash
Nigeria’s U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos recorded a a convincing 3-0 victory over Dream Stars Ladies in a friendly match played at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
The friendly match is a continuation of their preparations for the final round of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Benin Republic.
The match formed part of the team’s build-up to their crucial qualifier scheduled for July 4, 2026.
The Flamingos, who recently resumed camping at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne following a short break after their successful second-round campaign, dominated proceedings against the Nigeria Women’s Football League side.
Mary Dunstan opened the scoring in the 24th minute to hand the Flamingos a deserved 1-0 lead at halftime after an impressive first-half display.
The young Nigerian side maintained their intensity after the break, with Queen Joseph doubling the advantage in the 67th minute before Oluwakemi Adegbuyi sealed the victory with a third goal ten minutes from time.
Despite a few invited players yet to join camp due to their commitments in the President Federation Cup, preparations are progressing smoothly as the coaching crew fine-tunes the squad ahead of the decisive encounter with Benin Republic.
The comprehensive win will provide a confidence boost for the Flamingos as they seek to secure qualification for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup and continue Nigeria’s proud tradition at the global tournament.
