Adeshina Leads the Charge for Athletics’ Next Generation, Sponsors Women’s High Jump at Athletic Heat Anniversary
Nigeria’s high jump record holder, Temitope Adeshina, has thrown her weight behind the development of emerging athletes by sponsoring the women’s high jump event at the Athletic Heat 10th Anniversary Meet in Lagos.
The competition, scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, at YabaTech Stadium, will offer a total prize purse of ₦200,000 to the top four finishers in the women’s high jump, providing a financial incentive for athletes seeking to establish themselves in the sport.
Under the prize-money arrangement, the winner will receive ₦100,000, while the second-place finisher will earn ₦50,000. The third- and fourth-place athletes will collect ₦30,000 and ₦20,000, respectively.
Adeshina’s intervention adds to the growing list of sponsors supporting the anniversary meet and reinforces the importance of investing in competitions that give emerging athletes opportunities to test their abilities, gain exposure and pursue their ambitions.
The Nigerian star heads into the initiative on the back of an impressive 2026 season, during which she won both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor High Jump titles representing Texas Tech Track & Field in the United States.
Those achievements further underline her standing as one of Nigeria’s leading high jump athletes and provide a strong platform for her involvement in efforts to strengthen the sport at the grassroots and developmental levels.
A Commonwealth Games bronze medallist and two-time African Championships silver medallist, Adeshina has built an international record that continues to inspire aspiring high jumpers. Her decision to sponsor the event brings that experience closer to athletes competing for recognition on home soil.
Beyond the prize money, her support reflects the value of accomplished athletes giving back to the sport by helping create opportunities for the next generation. Such initiatives can encourage participation, raise the profile of individual events and strengthen the competitive environment for emerging talents.
The sponsorship also adds momentum to the Athletic Heat 10th Anniversary Meet, which celebrates a decade of contributing to athletics development and providing a platform for athletes to showcase their potential.
With the women’s high jump now carrying a ₦200,000 prize purse, competitors will have an additional incentive to deliver strong performances at the anniversary gathering.
Athletes interested in participating have been encouraged to register through A3 Tickets ahead of the competition.
The Athletic Heat 10th Anniversary Meet will be held under the theme, “10 Years of Impact. A Legacy That Keeps Running.”
