7- Star Edo Queens Make Flying Start in WAFU B Champions League Qualifiers, Thrash GNN
Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) champions Edo Queens began their 2026 WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying campaign in emphatic fashion with a commanding 7-0 victory over AS Garde Nationale of Niger on Monday.
Edo Queens dominated the Group B encounter from start to finish, producing a statement performance to underline their ambition of securing a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Chioma Moses opened the scoring in the fifth minute before doubling her tally from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time to give the Nigerian champions a 2-0 lead at the break.
Edo Queens continued their relentless attack after the restart, with Atume Doosuur scoring twice in the 47th and 56th minutes to extend the advantage to 4-0.
Aminat Folorunsho added the fifth goal in the 62nd minute before Moses completed her hat-trick with Edo Queens’ sixth goal in the 76th minute.
Oluwakemi Adegbuyi then rounded off the scoring in the third minute of added time as Edo Queens sealed a resounding 7-0 triumph.
Moses was the standout performer with a hat-trick, while Doosuur contributed a brace in an impressive attacking display from the Nigerian champions.
The victory gives Edo Queens an ideal start to their WAFU B campaign as they continue their quest to qualify for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Edo Queens will next face Ivorian champions ASEC Mimosas on Thursday, August 27.
The Edo State will them conclude their Group B campaign against Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies on Sunday, August 30.
The Nigerian champions will be hoping to maintain their momentum and secure a place in the next stage of the competition.
