Yira Sor, Gift Orban Sink Trabzonspor as Onuachu’s Goal Drought Continues
Yira Sor and Gift Orban were on target as Amedspor came from behind to defeat Trabzonspor 2-1 in a dramatic Turkish Süper Lig Matchday 3 encounter on Monday.
The victory was powered by two Nigerian forwards, with Sor scoring the equaliser before Orban struck late to complete Amedspor’s comeback and condemn Paul Onuachu and Trabzonspor to defeat.
Trabzonspor made the perfect start when Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the 11th minute, putting the visitors ahead after finding space behind the Amedspor defence.
Amedspor responded with sustained pressure and eventually got their reward deep into first-half stoppage time.
After the referee awarded a penalty to the hosts, Mbaye Diagne stepped up but saw his effort saved by Trabzonspor goalkeeper André Onana.
Sor reacted quickest to the rebound, firing into the net in the 45+5th minute to restore parity.
The goal capped an impressive first-half performance from Sor, who had already tested Onana on several occasions.
Sor, however, was unable to continue after the interval, making way for fellow Nigerian Gift Orban in the 50th minute.
Orban would ultimately have the final say.
With the match heading towards a draw, the former Lyon forward produced a decisive moment in the 90th minute, converting Mehmet Yeşil’s pass to give Amedspor a dramatic 2-1 victory.
The result completed a memorable comeback for Amedspor, who moved to six points after three league matches.
For Trabzonspor, the defeat was another frustrating outing despite Salah’s early goal, while Onuachu once again failed to find the net.
The Nigerian striker played the full 90 minutes but could not break his scoring drought as Trabzonspor struggled to turn their possession and opportunities into goals.
The defeat leaves Trabzonspor with four points from their opening three Süper Lig matches, increasing the pressure on the team to respond quickly.
For Sor and Orban, however, the night belonged to the Nigerian duo, whose goals turned a 1-0 deficit into a memorable 2-1 victory for Amedspor.
