Wimbledon 2026: Nigeria’s Ogunsakin Reaches Junior Boys’ Doubles Semi-Finals

Nigeria’s teenage tennis sensation, Oluwaseun Peter Ogunsakin, continued his remarkable run at the 2026 Wimbledon Junior Championships, booking a place in the Boys’ Doubles semi-finals after another impressive victory at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

The 17-year-old Nigerian, partnering Ntungamili Raguin of Botswana, upset the tournament’s sixth seeds, Yannick Alexandrescou of France and Ryo Tabata of Japan, in straight sets, winning 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) on Thursday.

The unseeded African pair combined power, composure and excellent teamwork to overcome their highly-rated opponents. After taking the opening set 6-4, Ogunsakin and Raguin held their nerve in a closely contested second set before sealing victory in the tie-break to advance to the last four.

The latest triumph extends an outstanding Wimbledon campaign for Ogunsakin, who has emerged as one of the tournament’s biggest surprise packages.

The duo had announced themselves in the opening round by eliminating the third seeds in straight sets before producing a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory over American pair Safir Azam and Vihaan Reddy in the quarter-finals.

Beyond his doubles success, Ogunsakin has also enjoyed a historic singles campaign, becoming the first Nigerian player since 1990 to qualify for the Wimbledon Junior singles main draw, underlining his status as one of Africa’s brightest young tennis prospects.

With two consecutive upset victories over seeded opponents, Ogunsakin and Raguin are now just one win away from reaching the Boys’ Doubles final and remain firmly in contention for a historic Wimbledon Junior Grand Slam title.

All eyes will now be on the African partnership as they prepare for the semi-finals, hoping to continue their dream run on the famous grass courts of Wimbledon.
