Nigeria’s Flamingos maintained their perfect start to the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Girls Championship with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Burkina Faso on Sunday.
The Nigerian side had to remain patient in a tightly contested encounter before their persistence eventually paid off in the closing stages, with Mary Dunstan and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi finding the breakthrough to secure another important victory.
Dunstan opened the scoring in the 82nd minute, breaking Burkina Faso’s resistance and putting the Flamingos in front as Nigeria pushed for their third consecutive win of the competition.
Burkina Faso struggled to respond as Nigeria pressed for a decisive second goal, and Adegbuyi eventually put the result beyond doubt in the fourth minute of added time, striking in the 90+4th minute to seal a 2-0 victory.
The result leaves the Flamingos firmly at the summit of the standings with nine points from three matches, having recorded three wins from three outings.
