Sojar Boy vs Scorpion: Osaigbovo, Oyekola Set for WBA Africa Lightweight Title Rematch in Lagos
Tosin “Sojar Boy” Osaigbovo and Ridwan “Scorpion” Oyekola will renew their fierce rivalry on September 26, 2026, as they battle for the WBA Africa Lightweight Gold title at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The highly anticipated rematch is scheduled to headline Battle of the Ages 14, promoted by De Lad’s Boxing Promotions, with the action set to begin at 5:00pm at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium.
The latest promotional announcement places the bout over 10 rounds for the WBA Africa Lightweight Gold title, adding continental significance to a rivalry that has already generated considerable interest among Nigerian boxing fans.
Osaigbovo and Oyekola first met on December 29, 2024, in an eight-round lightweight contest at the Campos Mini Stadium in Lagos, with Sojar Boy emerging victorious by unanimous decision.
The official World Boxing Association record also lists Osaigbovo’s victory over Oyekola as an eight-round unanimous decision.
The result, however, did little to settle the rivalry, with Oyekola’s camp disputing the verdict and calling for another opportunity to settle the score inside the ring.
The rematch has since taken on greater importance for both fighters.
Osaigbovo, who previously challenged Taiwo “Esepo” Agbaje for the WBA Africa Lightweight title, will be looking to return to winning ways and strengthen his position in the continental lightweight division. Agbaje defeated Osaigbovo by unanimous decision in April 2026 to claim the WBA Africa Lightweight title.
Oyekola, meanwhile, will be determined to overturn the result of their first encounter and prove that he belongs among the leading lightweights in Nigeria and Africa.
The WBA lists Osaigbovo with a professional record of 12 wins from 12 bouts, including eight knockouts, while Oyekola is listed at 12-4-2 with seven knockouts.
The rivalry has already produced plenty of talking points outside the ring, with Oyekola previously vowing to end Sojar Boy’s career when they meet again.
With the stakes now raised by a continental title, their September showdown promises to be one of the major attractions on Nigeria’s 2026 boxing calendar.
