Re-vitalised D’Tigers Begin World Cup Qualifiers Against Cameroon Today
Nigeria’s D’Tigers will begin the second round of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers with a crucial Group E encounter against Cameroon today, Thursday, August 27, in Radès, Tunisia.
The Nigerian side will face Cameroon at the Salle Multidisciplinaire de Radès from 4pm Nigerian time, as the team begins the decisive phase of its qualification campaign.
D’Tigers head into the second round with renewed confidence following an impressive performance in the previous qualifying window, where Nigeria recorded three consecutive victories to strengthen their position in the race for a place at the World Cup.
After today’s encounter, Nigeria will return to action on Friday, August 28, against South Sudan, with tip-off scheduled for 1pm Nigerian time.D’Tigers will then conclude their campaign in the fourth window against Cape Verde on Sunday, August 30, with the game also scheduled for 1pm.
Nigeria are grouped alongside Cameroon, Guinea, Tunisia, South Sudan and Cape Verde in Group E, while Group F comprises Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Angola, Egypt and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The second-round qualifiers will determine the teams that progress to the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup, with the top two teams in each group securing automatic qualification.
The best third-placed team across the two groups will also earn a ticket to the global tournament.With qualification now entering a crucial stage, D’Tigers will be aiming for a strong start against Cameroon and positive results across the three games in Radès.
