Osimhen Resumes Partial Training as Galatasaray Return Draws Closer
Victor Osimhen has moved a step closer to a return to competitive action after resuming partial team training with Galatasaray as he continues his recovery from a groin injury.
The Nigeria international joined his teammates for part of Tuesday’s training session at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities before continuing with an individual programme as the club carefully manages his recovery.
Osimhen has been sidelined since sustaining a right adductor injury during Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir on September 4.
His gradual return to team training represents a positive development for Okan Buruk’s side, although his participation does not yet guarantee that he will be available for Friday’s Turkish Süper Lig meeting with Kasımpaşa.
Galatasaray are expected to continue assessing the 27-year-old striker’s fitness over the coming days before determining whether he is ready to return to competitive action.
The timing of Osimhen’s recovery is particularly significant, with Galatasaray facing a demanding run of fixtures. They host Kasımpaşa on Friday, October 9, before welcoming Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, October 13.
The club will be keen to avoid rushing Osimhen back, with his goalscoring ability and attacking presence making him a crucial component of Buruk’s plans.
Osimhen’s progress will also be closely monitored in Nigeria, where his availability remains important to the Super Eagles as they look ahead to their next international assignments.
For now, his return to partial training offers Galatasaray an encouraging sign, but the club will take the final decision on his comeback only after further assessment of his physical condition.
