President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), Francis Orbih, has praised Eniola Bolaji for her impressive gold-medal-winning performance at the 2026 Peru Para Badminton International.
Orbih described Bolaji’s triumph as a strong response to her outing at the British and Irish International in June, saying the world number two has once again demonstrated her consistency, character and ability to overcome challenges.
Bolaji, a Paralympic Games bronze medallist, defeated Brazil’s Kauana Beckenkamp 21-12, 21-12 in the Women’s SL3 final on Sunday to claim the title without dropping a game throughout the tournament.
The Nigerian had earlier swept aside Brazil’s Maria Da Silva Abinaecia 21-7, 21-6 in the first round before dismantling Croatia’s Gabriela Montero 21-2, 21-1 in the second round.
She continued her dominant run in the semi-finals, defeating Mexico’s Maria Rojas Peres 21-6, 21-9 to set up the final against Beckenkamp.
“This performance has once again proven Eniola’s consistency and her ability to overcome challenges. She has shown great character and determination to bounce back strongly,” Orbih said.
The BFN president stressed that the Peru International forms part of Bolaji’s long-term preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
“The Peru International is part of our build-up to the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games, and performances like this are very encouraging as we continue with the preparations,” he added.
Orbih also expressed appreciation to GIG Logistics, Yonex and the National Sports Commission for their support towards Bolaji’s development and international success.
“We appreciate the immense contributions of GIG Logistics, Yonex and the National Sports Commission to Eniola’s progression. Their support has been invaluable to her development and success,” he said.
