The 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase begins today, with several Nigerian players set to represent their clubs on Europe’s biggest stage.
Nigerian stars including Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Zaidu Sanusi, Moses Usor and Prosper Obah are among the players expected to feature in the competition, while Christian Nwachukwu and a group of Nigerians at Slavia Prague will also be involved.
Osimhen Doubtful for Galatasaray Opener
Victor Osimhen could miss Galatasaray’s opening league-phase fixture against Sporting CP on Wednesday at 8pm due to an injury concern.
Galatasaray will travel to Portugal looking to begin their Champions League campaign with a positive result, but Osimhen remains a doubt as the Turkish champions prepare for the difficult encounter.
Lookman Ready for Atletico Madrid
Ademola Lookman is expected to be in action when Atletico Madrid face Liverpool at 8pm on Wednesday.
Lookman will provide another attacking option for Atletico as they begin their Champions League campaign against the Premier League giants at Anfield.
Sanusi Faces Manchester City
Zaidu Sanusi will be hoping to play a key role when FC Porto host Manchester City at 8pm tonight.
