Nigeria Wins Five Gold, Placed Third at African Wrestling Championship in Brazzaville

Team Nigeria finished third at the Central African Wrestling Championship, held in Brazzaville, clinching five gold medals and one silver across Freestyle, Beach, and Women’s Wrestling categories.

The championship kicked off with a remarkable performance from Team Nigeria, who secured three gold medals on the opening day.

Terry Godfrey shone in the Men’s 65kg Freestyle, showcasing exceptional skill and determination. In the 53kg Women’s Wrestling, Andrew Woyinkorikiye captured gold, embodying the fighting spirit of Nigeria.

Precillia Archbone also contributed to the team’s success, adding a third gold medal in the 45kg category, resulting in a flawless performance across the first three events.

The momentum carried into the Beach Wrestling segment, where Nigeria continued to excel.

Andrew Woyinkorikiye and Precillia Archbone each claimed another gold, further solidifying Nigeria’s dominance.

However, Terry Godfrey settled for silver in this category, rounding out a stellar showing for the team.

In total, Team Nigeria achieved five gold medals and one silver, earning a commendable third place overall in the tournament.
