Nigeria Beat Mozambique, Face Morocco in Final for LA28 Olympic Ticket

Nigeria’s women’s beach volleyball team have booked their place in the final of the African Beach Volleyball Championship after defeating Mozambique 2-0 in the semi-final in Alexandria, Egypt.

The Nigerian duo delivered a composed and authoritative performance at Abu Heif Beach, securing a straight-set victory with identical 21-17 scores.

Nigeria established control early in both sets and maintained their advantage throughout, showing consistency and composure to overcome a determined Mozambique side.

The victory moves Nigeria to within one win of securing a direct qualification ticket to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, while also putting the African title within reach.

Nigeria will now face Morocco in the final after the North African side defeated hosts Egypt 2-1 in the other semi-final.

Morocco took the first set 21-17, but Egypt responded strongly to level the contest with a 21-16 victory in the second. Morocco, however, produced a decisive display in the third set, winning 15-8 to complete the comeback and secure their place in the final.

The final between Nigeria and Morocco will take place at Abu Heif Beach on Saturday at 4:30pm Cairo time.

The encounter carries enormous significance, with the winner set to claim the African Beach Volleyball Championship title and earn a direct ticket to the LA28 Olympic Games.

For Nigeria, victory would represent a major milestone in their quest for Olympic qualification and further underline the country’s growing presence in African beach volleyball.

With the continental crown and an Olympic ticket both on the line, Nigeria will be aiming to produce one more strong performance and finish the championship on the highest possible note.
