Nigeria 5-0 Comoros: Ijamilusi Opens Up On Game Changing Impact After Replacing Injured Ajibade In Super Falcons’Win

Super Falcons forward Folashade Ijamilusi has expressed her delight at making a significant impact in Nigeria’s 5-0 victory over Comoros in the second leg of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games qualifiers on Tuesday.

Ijamilusi replaced captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who was stretchered off with an injury in the 22nd minute, and provided two assists to help Nigeria complete a commanding 7-0 aggregate victory and advance to the next round.

Speaking after the match, the forward said she was pleased to influence the game after coming on for the injured captain.

“I saw the game through Ajibade, and I’m happy to influence the game. Providing two assists is a good thing for me, and I’m happy,” she said.

Ijamilusi: Super Falcons Have Moved On From WAFCON Disappointment

The forward also addressed Nigeria’s disappointing campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which saw the team fail to secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Ijamilusi insisted that the Super Falcons had put the setback behind them and were now focused on securing a place at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

“As a team, we have moved on from the disappointment, and we don’t want to remember it again. We will work hard to qualify for the Olympics, and we will perform better in the future,” she added.

Ijamilusi Opens Up on Partnership With Gift Monday

The Super Falcons forward also highlighted her understanding with fellow attacker Gift Monday, attributing their on-field connection to their longstanding relationship.

According to Ijamilusi, the pair grew up together in Mushin, Lagos, a shared background that has helped them develop a strong understanding on the pitch.

“We grew up together in Mushin, Lagos. We understand each other, and we are happy to see ourselves in the senior team. We are happy to play for the national team.

“We thank God for giving us this privilege after going through a lot of things,” she said.

With the victory over Comoros secured, Nigeria will now turn their attention to the next round of the 2028 Olympic qualifiers as the Super Falcons continue their quest to return to the Olympic football tournament.
