Laliga Weekend Recap: Lookman, Sadiq Open Accounts as Real Madrid Maintain Perfect Start
Ademola Lookman and Umar Sadiq both opened their LaLiga scoring accounts for the 2026/27 season, while Real Madrid continued their impressive start with another emphatic victory on Matchday 3.
Nigeria internationals Ademola Lookman and Umar Sadiq were among the goals as LaLiga’s third round of fixtures produced several eye-catching results across Spain.
Lookman marked his return to the scoresheet in the Spanish top flight with a goal in Atlético Madrid’s 3-1 away victory over Sevilla.
The forward struck in the 26th minute after Álex Baena had given Atlético an early lead. Baena then completed his brace in the 33rd minute to put the visitors firmly in control.
Sevilla pulled one goal back through M. Sierra in the 66th minute, but Atlético held on comfortably to secure a valuable away victory.
The goal represents Lookman’s first LaLiga strike of the new campaign and provides an early boost for the Nigerian forward as he continues his spell with the Madrid club.
Sadiq also got off the mark for the season, scoring Valencia’s only goal in their 3-1 defeat away to Deportivo La Coruña.
Deportivo raced into a two-goal lead through an own goal from Carlos Tárrega and a strike from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before Sadiq pulled one back for Valencia.
Mouctar Diakhaby’s own goal, however, restored Deportivo’s two-goal advantage and condemned Valencia to another disappointing result.
Real Madrid Keep Scoring
Real Madrid maintained their perfect start to the campaign with a convincing 4-0 victory over Málaga.
The reigning Spanish giants dominated proceedings and continued their impressive scoring form, with Kylian Mbappé, Arda Güler and Jude Bellingham among the players to find the net.
The result keeps Real Madrid at the top end of the early LaLiga standings as they continue their bid for another league title.
Elsewhere, Levante produced the biggest scoreline of the round, defeating Real Betis 5-2 in an entertaining encounter.
Real Sociedad edged Espanyol 2-1, while Racing Santander survived a late Elche fightback to win 3-2. Deportivo Alavés also secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Villarreal.
