Anthony Joshua produced one of the most dramatic victories of his career on Saturday night, recovering from two first-round knockdowns to stop Kristian Prenga with a spectacular knockout in round two.

The former two-time heavyweight world champion suffered a nightmare start as Prenga stunned the crowd by flooring Joshua twice in the opening round with a powerful combination, raising fears of a major upset.

However, the British-Nigerian boxer showed remarkable resilience and composure to survive the early scare.

Regaining his rhythm in the second round, Joshua began to dominate the contest, landing a series of heavy punches before ending the fight with a devastating right hook that left Prenga unable to continue.

The dramatic knockout victory sparked emotional scenes inside the arena, with Joshua visibly fighting back tears during his post-fight interview.

Dedicating the victory to two close friends who had recently passed away, Joshua said:
“That was Latz, that was Sina.”

He also thanked God, the fans, his promoter Eddie Hearn, and Prenga’s camp for making the fight possible.

“First of all, I want to thank everyone who came out tonight. I appreciate the support. I also want to thank Prenga and his team for accepting the fight. It means a lot to both of us.
“I want to give thanks to God. It was more than me in there. It couldn’t just be me in those situations. There is a higher power guiding everything.”

Joshua then shifted attention to a long-awaited all-British heavyweight showdown with Tyson Fury, jokingly asking the crowd:
“Hold on, wait a minute. Have we got Tyson Fury in the room?”

He added:
“I respect everything he has achieved, but we’re both fighters and the time is now. I hope the fans are in for a special treat.”

Adding further excitement, promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that contracts for the proposed Joshua-Fury blockbuster have already been signed, with an official announcement expected in the coming days.

The thrilling comeback victory extends Joshua’s impressive resurgence and has intensified anticipation for what could become one of the biggest heavyweight fights in modern boxing. Fans will now await official confirmation of the highly anticipated clash between Joshua and Fury.
