EuroMatch NPFL: Enyimba Grab First Point in Kano as Rangers, 3SC, Doma United Fall on Week 6
Enyimba finally opened their points account in the 2026/27 EuroMatch NPFL season on Sunday, holding Kano Pillars to a goalless draw in Kano, while Rangers International, Shooting Stars and Doma United all suffered defeats in a dramatic Week 6 round of fixtures.
The draw ended Enyimba’s run of four consecutive defeats at the start of the campaign.
Although the former champions are still searching for their first victory, the clean sheet and valuable away point offer some encouragement as they seek to revive a difficult campaign.
Kano Pillars, meanwhile, were unable to convert home advantage into maximum points as both sides cancelled each other out over 90 minutes.
Rangers endured a difficult outing in Lagos, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Ikorodu City.
Aderemi Adeoye opened the scoring for the hosts in the eighth minute before Ikechukwu Junior doubled the advantage in the 63rd minute.
The result represents a setback for Rangers after their promising start to the season and leaves the Flying Antelopes needing an immediate response in their next fixture.
Shooting Stars also returned empty-handed from Warri after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Warri Wolves.
Othuke Egbo struck in the eighth minute, and the early breakthrough proved decisive as Wolves successfully defended their advantage to claim all three points.
Doma United suffered another setback on the road, losing 2-1 to Katsina United.
Luis Dadong put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot in the 12th minute, but Sadiq Rilwan restored parity for Doma United seven minutes before half-time.
Katsina United, however, had the final say when Mukhtar Ismail scored in the 75th minute to secure victory.
At the top of the standings, Barau maintained their unbeaten start after earning a 1-1 draw away to Sporting Lagos on Saturday.
The result kept the league leaders at the summit after six matches, although the congested nature of the early-season standings leaves the leading positions open to further movement.
Rivers United were scheduled to face Ranchers Bees on Monday, leaving the Port Harcourt side with a game in hand over several of their rivals.
Elsewhere, Abia Warriors recorded the weekend’s biggest victory, beating Bendel Insurance 3-0.
Ikoi Etta opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Emeka Obioma struck twice in the 24th and 40th minutes to complete a convincing win.
Plateau United defeated Inter Lagos 2-0, with Gideon Monday and Jibrin Ibrahim getting on the scoresheet, while Nasarawa United edged Niger Tornadoes 1-0 through Harrison Ebah.
Kun Khalifat also claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Kwara United, with Igwe Igweuzo scoring the decisive goal in the 64th minute.
With Ranchers Bees versus Rivers United still outstanding, Week 6 has already produced important developments at both ends of the standings.
Barau remain unbeaten at the summit, Enyimba have finally ended their losing run and opened their points account, while Rangers, Shooting Stars and Doma United have all dropped valuable points as the 2026/27 EuroMatch NPFL season gathers momentum.
