Former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has rewarded Kun Khalifat FC players with ₦1 million following their dramatic 1-1 draw against Kano Pillars in the opening fixture of the 2026/27 EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Week 12.
Musa, who encouraged the players after Friday’s encounter, presented the financial reward in recognition of their fighting spirit and determination to secure a point after falling behind late in the game.
Kano Pillars appeared on course for an important away victory after Sikiru Alimi broke the deadlock in the 74th minute, firing home from outside the penalty area to give the visitors the lead.
However, Kun Khalifat refused to surrender, producing a late response as Ebuka Okoro converted a penalty in the 90th minute to restore parity and rescue a point for the home side.
The result denied Kano Pillars the opportunity to move temporarily to the top of the league table, while Kun Khalifat earned a valuable point in front of their supporters.
Rangers Target Extended Lead as Rivers United Face Sporting Lagos
Attention now shifts to the remaining Week 12 fixtures, with the title race, continental qualification ambitions and relegation battle providing several compelling storylines.
Saturday’s standout fixture will see Sporting Lagos host Rivers United at 4pm.
Rivers United occupy third position with 18 points, while Sporting Lagos are eighth with 16 points. With only two points separating the sides, the encounter presents an opportunity for the Lagos-based club to close the gap on the league’s leading contenders.
Rivers United, however, will be determined to secure an important away victory and strengthen their position among the title challengers.
Rangers Face Kwara United in Title Race Test
League leaders Rangers International will welcome Kwara United on Sunday as they seek to consolidate their position at the summit.
The Flying Antelopes will be targeting maximum points to extend their advantage, but Kwara United will be hoping to frustrate the hosts and produce an upset.
Another interesting encounter will see Nasarawa United take on Plateau United in a meeting between two top-six sides, with both clubs looking to strengthen their positions on the table.
Enyimba Face Crucial Relegation Battle
One of Sunday’s most significant fixtures will be the meeting between Ranchers Bees and Enyimba.
Enyimba occupy 17th position with 11 points, while Ranchers Bees are 19th with nine points.
The encounter represents an important opportunity for both sides to improve their survival prospects, with a victory potentially providing a significant boost in their battle to escape the relegation zone.
Other Sunday fixtures include Warri Wolves against Katsina United, Barau FC versus Shooting Stars, Abia Warriors against Doma United and Bendel Insurance versus Niger Tornadoes.
Lagos Derby to Close Week 12
The Week 12 programme will conclude on Monday, November 9, with a highly anticipated Lagos derby between Ikorodu City and Inter Lagos.
Both sides will be eager to claim local bragging rights and secure three valuable points in what promises to be an intriguing contest.
Following Kun Khalifat’s dramatic opening draw against Kano Pillars, the remaining fixtures are expected to deliver further twists in an increasingly competitive NPFL campaign.
