Nigerian footballers recorded mixed fortunes in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League Matchday 4 action, with Moses Usor and Samuel Adeniran making decisive contributions to LASK’s emphatic victory, while Victor Osimhen celebrated another win with Galatasaray.

Ademola Lookman and Nigeria-born Canadian international Tani Oluwaseyi, meanwhile, were on the losing sides as Atletico Madrid and Villarreal suffered defeats against Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.

Usor, Adeniran inspire LASK victory

Moses Usor and Samuel Adeniran were instrumental as LASK secured an emphatic 4-0 victory over Slovan Bratislava.

Usor provided the assist for Kasper Mølgaard Jørgensen’s opening goal in the 19th minute, giving the Austrian side an early advantage.

LASK continued their dominance, adding further goals before Adeniran completed the scoring in the 48th minute to seal an impressive performance.

Usor was substituted in the 75th minute, while Adeniran’s contribution highlighted the growing influence of Nigerian talent in European football.

Osimhen features as Galatasaray defeat Stuttgart

Victor Osimhen featured as Galatasaray recorded a 2-0 victory over Stuttgart to strengthen their Champions League campaign.

The Super Eagles striker was involved in the Turkish champions’ attacking efforts but did not register a goal or assist.

Galatasaray established control early, scoring twice through Aleksei Batrakov in the 12th and 15th minutes to secure an important victory.

The result continued Galatasaray’s positive run in the competition, with Osimhen remaining an important figure in their European ambitions.

Lookman unable to prevent Atletico defeat

Ademola Lookman made a second-half appearance as Atletico Madrid suffered a 2-0 defeat against Bayern Munich.

The Nigerian forward came off the bench in the 59th minute, replacing Alexander Sørloth, but could not inspire a comeback against the German champions.

Bayern secured victory through goals from Lennart Karl and Konrad Laimer in the second half, handing Atletico a disappointing result on home soil.

Nigeria-born Oluwaseyi features in Villarreal’s heavy defeat

Nigeria-born forward Tani Oluwaseyi also featured in Tuesday’s action as Villarreal suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Canadian international, who was born in Abuja, entered the game in the 62nd minute, replacing Ayoze Pérez.

Oluwaseyi recorded defensive contributions, including three tackles, four clearances and two recoveries, but could not prevent Villarreal from suffering one of their heaviest defeats in European competition.

His appearance adds another Nigeria-born footballer to the list of players involved in Tuesday’s Champions League fixtures, although he represents Canada at international level.
