Boston Legacy GM Backs Gift Monday to Add New Dimension to Attack After Washington Spirit Exit
Super Falcons forward Gift Monday is expected to bring a different attacking dimension to Boston Legacy FC after completing her move from Washington Spirit in the United States’ National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
Boston Legacy confirmed the acquisition of the Nigerian international on Thursday, October 8, in a deal reportedly worth $500,000 in transfer-threshold funds, with Washington Spirit retaining a 20 per cent sell-on clause.
Boston Legacy general manager Domè Guasch expressed confidence in Monday’s ability to strengthen the club’s attacking options, pointing to her pressing ability, creativity and threat in the final third.
“Gift brings a unique set of qualities as a forward that will add another dimension to our attack,” Guasch said.
The club believes the 24-year-old’s movement, work rate and ability to create scoring opportunities will complement its existing attacking options as it continues its campaign in the NWSL.
Monday joins Boston after spending two seasons with Washington Spirit, where she made 48 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists across all competitions.
Her contribution included a role in Washington’s run to the NWSL Championship final last season. She also made headlines in September 2025 after scoring a hat-trick against Houston Dash in 35 minutes and 52 seconds, setting a record for the fastest hat-trick in NWSL history.
The Nigerian forward joined Washington from Spanish side UD Tenerife in 2025, having previously developed her career with Nigerian clubs COD United Amazons, FC Robo and Bayelsa Queens.
Her performances in Spain and the United States have helped establish her as one of Nigeria’s attacking options at international level. Monday was part of the Super Falcons squad at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and remains in contention for national team selection.
The switch to Boston presents the forward with an opportunity to take on a new challenge and build on her experience in American football.
For Boston Legacy, her arrival is expected to add depth, pace and versatility to the forward line, with Guasch backing her qualities to provide a different dimension to the team’s attack.
