Among the distinguished personalities at the event were former Super Eagles midfielder and renowned football administrator, Seyi Olofinjana, and Her Excellency, the First Lady of Kwara State, Ambassador Professor Olufolake Abdulrazaq, who is also the Grand Matron of the Club, and the Secretary of the FCT FA, Haruna Ilerika.
The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the club’s achievements within its first year, recognise individuals who have contributed to its growth and reaffirm its commitment to creating opportunities for young footballers to develop and pursue professional careers.
A major highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards to four outstanding players of the club in recognition of their performances, discipline, dedication and contributions to the team’s progress.
Similarly, four young participants from the AAFC Soccer School were honoured for their commitment, development and enthusiasm for the game, underscoring the club’s determination to build a sustainable football development structure from the grassroots.
Speaking at the event, AAFC Chairman, Mr Farouk Abdulrazaq, expressed delight at the success of the anniversary celebration and the remarkable turnout of distinguished guests.
“We are extremely delighted with how far we have come in just one year. When we started this journey, our vision was to build more than just a football club. We wanted to create an environment where young talents could be discovered, nurtured and given the opportunity to achieve their dreams through football.
“Seeing distinguished personalities, football stakeholders, friends and supporters come together to celebrate this milestone is truly encouraging. It reinforces our belief that we are on the right path.”
The chairman further remarked that the first anniversary was not merely a celebration of the club’s existence but a renewed commitment to its long-term ambitions.
He added that AAFC would continue to invest in young talents, strengthen its football development programmes and pursue opportunities that would expose its players to local and international football opportunities.
The successful anniversary celebration represents another significant chapter in AAFC’s journey, with the club looking forward to building on its early achievements and making an even greater impact in Nigerian football and beyond.
