Saga Legacy Football Academy Launches in Lagos , Priorities Talent Development and Formal Education

Saga Legacy Football Academy has reaffirmed its commitment to combining football talent development with formal education as it officially unveiled its operations in Lagos.

The academy was launched at the Eagles Club, Surulere, Lagos, on Friday, November 6, 2026, with its training base located in Epe, Lagos State.

Speaking at the launch, Chairman of Saga Legacy Nigeria Limited, Mojeed Adegbindin, said the academy was established to provide young footballers with an environment where they can pursue their sporting ambitions without compromising their education.

Adegbindin said the initiative was designed to address parents’ concerns about the potential conflict between football development and academic advancement, stressing that players would be encouraged to continue their formal education throughout their time at the academy.

“We want to allay the fears of parents who may think that if their children play for us, they will have to abandon their education. They will continue their education while developing their football careers,” he said.

He added that players who complete the academy’s development programme and wish to pursue further academic opportunities would be supported, highlighting education as a central consideration in the academy’s structure and long-term vision.

Adegbindin also emphasised the importance of building the right football culture, saying the academy intended to develop players with the technical ability, discipline and values required to sustain successful professional careers.

On the technical structure, he disclosed that the academy had undertaken a screening process in selecting its coaching personnel, with an emphasis on experience and competence.

He further highlighted the experience within the technical and management structure, referencing a member of the coaching team who captained Lagos State’s gold-winning football team at the 2012 National Sports Festival.

Adegbindin also acknowledged the contributions of his business partner, Paul, and the involvement of Mr Radar, whom he described as an experienced football development professional with a background in coaching Norway’s national youth teams, including the Under-15 level, as well as coaching Molde and serving in sporting director roles at different clubs.

The chairman said the combination of qualified coaches, structured development and educational opportunities would provide a strong foundation for the academy’s ambitions.

With its base in Epe, Saga Legacy Football Academy aims to create a development pathway that prepares young players for opportunities in professional football while ensuring they acquire the academic foundation and personal discipline needed beyond the game.
