2026 WAFU B U-20: Adeleke Muiz Nets Brace as Flying Eagles Thrash Togo, Reach Semi-finals
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship after cruising to a commanding 3-0 victory over Togo on Thursday in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
The defending champions had to be patient before breaking down the resilient Sparrow Hawks, with both sides going into the break locked at 0-0.
However, Nigeria returned for the second half with renewed intensity and completely took control of the contest.
Red-hot striker Abdulmuiz Adeleke once again stole the headlines, scoring twice to continue his remarkable start to the tournament.
The prolific forward has now registered four goals in just two matches, having also bagged a brace in Nigeria’s 4-2 victory over Ghana in the opening Group B fixture.
Abdoulaye Agbeloye added the third goal late in the game to wrap up an emphatic win as Coach Abdu Maikaba’s side secured qualification for the last four with a match to spare.
Adeleke’s outstanding performance deservedly earned him the Man of the Match award.
The result moves Nigeria to six points from two matches at the top of Group B, with seven goals scored and only two conceded.
Burkina Faso remain on three points with a game in hand, while Ghana and Togo now face a difficult battle to keep their qualification hopes alive.
The Flying Eagles will round off their group campaign against Burkina Faso on Sunday, aiming to finish top of the group and carry their impressive momentum into the knockout stage.
With a semi-final ticket already secured, Nigeria’s focus will now shift to retaining the WAFU B crown and clinching the region’s only qualification slot for the 2027 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
