The 2025/26 NWFL Premiership season ended on Sunday with Edo Queens winning the league title to headline the winners’ list as the Super Six concluded in Port Harcourt.
Edo Queens emerged champions of the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership after playing out a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Bayelsa Queens on the final day of the Super Six playoffs in Port Harcourt.
The decisive encounter took place at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, where Edo Queens needed only a draw to secure the title, while Bayelsa Queens required victory to reclaim the crown.
Despite intense pressure from Bayelsa Queens, the Benin-based side displayed discipline and tactical organisation to hold on for the crucial point that sealed their second NWFL Premiership title.
The triumph further cements Edo Queens’ status among Nigeria’s elite women’s football clubs, as they join Bayelsa Queens as the only teams to have won the league twice in the last six seasons.
Head coach Moses Aduku also made history by becoming the first manager to win three NWFL Premiership titles within six seasons.
Aduku previously guided Bayelsa Queens to the title in 2022 before leading Edo Queens to championship success in 2024 and now 2026.
Elsewhere on the final matchday, Nasarawa Amazons and hosts Rivers Angels settled for a goalless draw, while FC Robo Queens fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against Abia Angels.
Edo Queens finished top of the Super Six standings with 10 points, two ahead of Bayelsa Queens in second place, while Nasarawa Amazons completed the top three.
Abia Angels ended their impressive debut Super Six campaign with six points, while FC Robo Queens and Rivers Angels finished with four points each.
As champions, Edo Queens will represent Nigeria at the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League qualifiers scheduled to take place in Burkina Faso from August 13 to September 5.
The tournament offers qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League and a pathway to the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.
