EuroMatch NPFL: Doma United Fined ₦5.25m, Bag Three-Match Stadium Ban Over Kun Khalifat Violence

Doma United have been fined a total of ₦5.25 million and ordered to play their next three home matches behind closed doors following security breaches and supporters’ misconduct during their NPFL clash against Kun Khalifat FC on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) charged the Gombe-based club with multiple breaches of the NPFL 2026/27 Framework and Rules following incidents involving match officials and members of the visiting team.

According to the league’s disciplinary notice, Doma United failed to provide adequate and effective security, allowing unauthorised persons to gain access to restricted areas during the encounter.

The club’s supporters were also accused of displaying hostile conduct towards match officials and away-team officials, bringing the game into disrepute.

Further misconduct was reported after the match, with Kun Khalifat head coach Obinna Uzoho sustaining an injury that required medical treatment.

Breakdown of Doma United’s Sanctions

Doma United were handed the following financial penalties:

  • ₦3 million for repeated failure to provide adequate and effective security.
  • ₦1 million for supporters’ hostile conduct towards match officials.
  • ₦1 million for gross misconduct towards an away-team official.
  • ₦250,000 as compensation for the medical treatment of Kun Khalifat head coach Obinna Uzoho.

In addition to the financial penalties, the Savannah Tigers will play their next three home fixtures behind closed doors because of repeated security breaches.

Match Commissioner Recommended for Demotion

The NPFL has also recommended the demotion of the match commissioner to a lower league over alleged dereliction of duty, insufficient supervision and inadequate reporting of the incidents.

The decision signals the league’s intention to hold both clubs and match officials accountable for security failures and misconduct at NPFL venues.

Doma United have been warned to strengthen matchday security and educate their supporters on acceptable behaviour to avoid more severe sanctions in the event of future violations.

The club has 48 hours from the date of notification to appeal the sanctions.

The disciplinary measures represent a significant setback for Doma United, who must now contend with a substantial financial penalty and three home matches without supporters as the 2026/27 NPFL season continues.
